Make learning yours
Hey, y'all! This week's Research of the Week should be a fun one. We're gonna assess embedding quotations and inferences, so:
1. You're going to choose your favorite song (if you have many, go with one of them) and pull out a line or two that are meaningful to you. 2. You're gonna tell us what that quote means to you (it's no longer what it says [Explicit information], it's you reading between the lines [Inference]. 3. You're gonna place the quotation directly into your answer. Remember: S.E.S.S. I'm leaving an example below but DON'T COPY OFF OF THAT EXAMPLE: "'Weird Al' Yankovic's 'Word Crimes' is a great song because it uses humor to teach grammar. Grammar is something that's normally boring, but because Al is a nerd and he parodies songs he can mix both to make it more memorable. For example, when he says in the song "Just now, you said, you literally couldn't get out of bed / That really makes me wanna smack a crowbar upside your stupid head" (Yankovic, Word Crimes), he exaggerates the actual use of literally as a way to supposedly teach us a lesson. Ultimately, teachers might show us these rules in different lessons, but Weird Al manages to put a bunch of them together, in a funny way that does what a teacher can't. Due FRIDAY 11:59 p.m.

Persona 5's beneath the mask track is a song that is very calming and has some impactful lyrics that tell a story in a very unique way. One line or should I say couple of lines that really says something goes as follows:

"Accumula Town" by Shota Kageyama is a voluminous piece of work because of how Shota made it sound so soothing and subtle, while also making it sound grand and exciting. Thereby, when you mix the two you feel like your traveling on this long, heartfelt journey and it's coming to an end so you're looking back at what you've accomplished so it kind of brings in a nostalgia factor even tough you've had never heard this song ever before in your entire life. In summary, "Accumula Town" by Shota Kageyama has been an ultimate joyride to listen to and it's a pretty splendid piece of music to listen to while working because of it's soothing and subtle nature.

My favorite song is "Dancing Queen" by ABBA. Some lines that are meaningful to me are "NIght is young and the music is high", "With a bit of rock music everything is fine". Those are meaningful to me because it is portraying an atmosphere that is light and fun. Also, music always puts me in a good mood. Whenever i listen to my favorite songs everything becomes fine. "Dancing Queen" is just a fun song to listen to because you get in the mood to dance, and at least for me, when I listen to the song I can't help dancing and all my worries are gone for the couple minutes the song last.

"Good Times Roll" by the Cars is a classic rock song based on memories that will never be forgotten and have great fun by yourself, family, or friends, while making this song timeless. This part of the song ties closely to what I belive this song means.

Though I have many favorite songs, the song "Be Alright" by Dean Lewis is stuck in my head currently. In this song (though this is only my theory) Dean's girlfriend tries to turn Dean's friends against him while ultimately cheating on him towards the end of this song. Now in this song, Dean seems to be absent minded due to his phone. The line "it doesn't matter put the phone away" is Dean's friends trying to show Dean the truth, but we should also apply this to our lives (me included). If we're so focused on a screen we could believe the wrong thing which can affect our actions such as Dean Lewis has been affected.

My favorite song,Reckless Love, was written by Cory Asbury. The song tells about how God loves us so much, and how he forgives us even though we sin against him. This song contains many impactful lyrics, but my favorite one is “And I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away.” To me, these lyrics say that I am forgiven of every wrong thing that I have done, and that God loves me enough to forgive me and give me a second chance. This is a song of salvation, redemption, and love coming from an almighty god.

I dont really have a favorite song, so im just gonna pick a song. "Man in the Mirror" was written by Michael Jackson. "Im starting with the man in the mirror. Im asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change."The chorus is the most important part because you dont have to wait for somebody to change thigns, you can make a difference.

I don't really have a favorite song, so I'm just going to use a song I have been listening to a lot recently. "If We Never Meet" by John.k. "I'd be lost in a crowded room of fake friends" To me this line is directed to that someone who you know you can count on to not only be a true friend but to also be there for you. I personally don't listen to songs for the genre, the band, or the style, I listen to music for the meaning behind the lyrics and to me this song has a very important meaning to me.

Music is the universal language. Even though some of the lyrics may sound funny, there is meaning behind them. For example, in the song “Reply” by A Boogie Wit da Hoodie featuring Lil Uzi Vert, one of the lyrics says ‘You only want me cause my life’s televised and I can see all them lies in your eyes.’ This explains the modern world very well. Nowadays, people want money or fame so much that they will lie. Their lives revolve around getting more clout online just so they can get more followers on social media like Instagram or Facebook. People should be focused on real relationships that are based on love and honesty.

The song I chose is idontwannabeyouanymore by Billie Eilish and the lyric is "If teardrops could be bottled there would be swimming pools filled by models" This is the quote I chose because it says a lot about how some people have to always pretend to be someone they don't wanna be, yet they put on a smile everyday. This lyric has a lot of impact on me because it reminds me of someone I used to be, I pretended like everything was fine, and smiled it off. But that did not get me anywhere. So I decided to change, and be myself no matter what. So in conclusion, I like that lyric from the song idontwannabeyouanymore because it has a important meaning for me about 4 years ago.

I don't really have a favorite song so I am just going to pick a song. The song I picked was see you again by Wiz khalifa. We’ve come a long way from where we began oh i'll tell you all about it when I see you again. I picked that line from the song because the song was made for Paul Walker when he passed away in a car accident. The song was made to put in Paul Walkers amazing franchize the Fast And The Furious. The song was put at the end of the movie as they sent his character off to live his life. But I picked this song because if you have watched all the movies he has made it like sums up everything he has built in his life and it just remides you of what a great person he was.

One of my favorite songs is “That’s not how the Story Goes” from A Series of Unfortunate Events, which was written by Nick Urata, seems to be a very good song. What makes it sound good is that it describes how most stories don’t always have a happy ending, which is bad, but the music seemed to fit in with it perfectly. For example, part of the first verse is, “You may think that the Baudelaires ought to prevail And be tucked someplace, all safe and sound Count Olaf captured and rotting in jail His hench people nowhere around.” That verse means something to me, it’s how all stories should go, with the good end in triumph. Nick Urata wrote this song to describe that not all stories have happy endings, and that’s just how some stories go.

A song that connects to me is "A Little Too Much" by Shawn Mendes. This song is about how sometimes life can get stressful and overwhelming, but in the end everything always works out."Sometimes it all gets a little too much. But you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up. And you don't have to be afraid, because we're all the same. And we know that sometimes it all gets a little too much"(Mendes, A Little Too Much). To me this means that we try to hide our stressed and pretend that everything is fine, but in reality it is okay to feel overwhelmed and that at some point everyone feels down, but the sun will always rise.

One of my favorite songs is "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, because I find this song very sweet and lovely. My favorite part of this song is: "I guess what I been saying is there ain't no better reason. To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons. It's what we aim to do. Our name is our virtue" feel as if this songs reminds you to be yourself, and just go with the flow. It keeps me happy, and reminds me I should enjoy life rather than complaining about what's wrong.

For now I guess my favorite song would be "Rumour Has It" by Adele , from all the songs in my head this is the song that seems to pop in the most often. I like this song a lot because it just a good song that does not sound most songs to today but it also the most perfect song to break out an sing.

I don't really have one favorite song, but I listened to this song a lot over the summer it's called “callaita” by Bad Bunny. I think the song is about a girl who got hurt and forgot how to enjoy life and now she’s beginning to learn to enjoy life again. the song makes me think of having a good time the meaning I take from the song is not letting one bad thing a person did to you affect your whole life even if it hurt you, you have to continue to live your life. These are some of the lyrics that I like and also go with what I think the meaning is.

My favorite song is God's Plan by Drake. Lines that are meaningful to me in this song is, ¨I been staying calm, don't start trouble with me¨ and ¨Tryna keep it peaceful is a struggle for me¨. These are meaningful to me because of sometimes how it can be hard to be calm. Like when somethings happens like getting a bad grade ¨Tryna keep it peaceful is a struggle for me¨ ties into it because I am the opposite of calm when I get a bad grade on a test or assignment.

One of my favorite songs is Legends by the late Juice Wrld. This song means a lot to me because Juice Wrld died on December 8th, 2019. He turned 21 years old six days ago and in this song he says "We ain't making it past 21" Right after he turned 21 he died from a seizure. in another part of the song he says "They tell me I'ma be a legend I don't want that title now cause all the legends seem to die out" and this is true. Juice Wrld is and will always be a legend in the rap community.

Cavetown's song Calpol is a song that I personally appreciate for many many reasons, one of them is because it is a very real song, what I mean by that is the words have a lot of meaning to his life and to life in general. The way it relates to his life is by the album it came out in, and the lyrics in the song. The album it came out in was 16/04/16. This album was made to honor his best friends death who passed away from leukemia. the song talks about the pains of growing up and how it doesn't get any easier so you should "take a bit of calpol" (which is a medicine akin to Tylenol) to feel better. This song symbolizes the hard times in life that don't end, but it does show how even if they don't get better the good things outweigh the bad and its worth it in the end. I love this song because its able to talk about the downsides of life without being depressing while also talking about the good without being campy and unrealistic.

"Suga's Interlude" by Halsey (ft. Suga) is a beautiful song that portrays the struggles of one's dream and continuing that dream. The line when Halsey sings, "In between the having it all/ And giving it up, yeah" (Frangipane, Suga's Interlude) is really meaningful because it explains a struggle that is overlooked upon in society today. Now that she's "having it all" (her dream), she realized that she imagined it out to be more joyous than reality made it. "Following your dreams" is a very stereotyped line because people often forget the reality of finally achieving that dream. Sometimes, people contemplate "giving it up", as in deserting that current lifestyle.

My favorite song is Good Old Days by Macklemore feat Kesha. Lately I have been listening to this song a lot and I have discovered a lot of important messages as I listen to it over and over. One lyric that in meaningful to me is "Cause someday soon, your whole life's gonna change you'll miss the magic of the good old days." This lyric is powerful to me because it puts the message across that you only have one life, so go out and enjoy it while you're still in the good old days which is what I believe every high school student wants to do before they get older. Another lyric I find meaningful is "All the love you won't forget and all these reckless nights you won't regret." I find this lyric meaningful because right now is the time of our lives where we are creating memories with the people we love that will last forever.

I have many favorite songs that are meaningful to me for different reasons, but "In The End", a song by Linkin Park is probably in the top five. I listen to it when I'm in the mood because it reminds me of how hard work doesn't pay off sometimes because life isn't fair.
